(2) Save the Date: June 12th to 15th, 2008 - Canada

Madness, Citizenship and Social Justice: A Human Rights Conference

Vancouver, B.C., Canada

 From the organizers:

"Our objective is to provide a forum in which critical topics and  
issues related to madness, citizenship, human rights and the role of  
the ‘psy’ professions can be explored across a range of intersecting  
positions and perspectives. Participants and delegates will include  
academics, users/survivors, activists, advocates, practitioners, and  
community workers from the local Vancouver area, across Canada and  
around the world."

MindFreedom is working with the organizers of this event, which is  
being held in association with the J.S. Woodsworth Resident Scholar  
program in the Humanities at Simon Fraser University.

Call for papers deadline: 15 February 2008.

(3) Save the Date: September 10th to 12th, 2008 - UK

Asylum! Conference and Festival
Manchester, England

 From the organizers:

"The conference will bring together organisations, activists,  
campaigners and academics working for radical challenge and change in  
mental health. It will showcase critical work on psychiatry and  
psychology (‘Big Psy’) and the pharmaceutical industry (‘Big  
Pharma’), and alternatives to diagnostic medical labels like  
‘schizophrenia’ and ‘paranoia’. The conference will run alongside a  
festival of organisations working for a better world. There will be  
guest speakers, academic papers, panel discussions, bookstalls, film,  
art, music and workshops."

First call for proposals deadline: 31 January 2008
